Synopsis
A peasant woman who cannot bear children for her husband agrees to take in a concubine as a result of pressure from her community and finds the concubine herself. The new woman is also unable to bear children. However, the first woman becomes pregnant in the meantime. Mood and atmosphere
Immerse yourself in a poignant exploration of love, jealousy, and societal pressure set against the backdrop of a rural village. This film evokes a deep sense of loneliness and the struggle for identity within a suffocating community. The warm colors of the landscape contrast with the cold realities of life, creating a visually striking atmosphere. As you watch, you may feel the weight of hope clashing with despair, reminiscent of classic tales of forbidden love and sacrifice. Perfect for those seeking a slow, contemplative experience that challenges notions of family and belonging, while resonating with themes of resilience and the human spirit.
