Synopsis
Architecture student Valdis is preparing to break up with his girlfriend, who is expecting a child and does not want to terminate the pregnancy. His mother, a respected doctor Vitrupe, who raised her son alone, would like to marry engineer-hydraulic builder Koroļovs. The son does not want to agree to this. A group of students, including Valdis, is sent to a hydroelectric power station construction site in Siberia, where engineer Koroļovs also works. Here Valdis decides not to disturb his mother's happiness and realizes that his own son should not grow up without a family.
