Synopsis
In 1948, in Hungary occupied by Soviet soldiers, Tatyana Illish, daughter of writer Bela Illish, a major in the Soviet army, stages one of her father's masterpieces, a "tale" about Colonel Gusev, at the university. She is assisted in the production by teaching assistant Gabor Tamasi, to whom Tatyana is tenderly connected. However, Gabor is not a communist; moreover, he is a young man who loves democracy and truth, and from the very first moment he arouses Bela Illish's suspicion. Furthermore, Gabor travels to the Soviet Union with a delegation to search for Colonel Gusev... 1948 is still considered a coalition time, but behind the scenes, the Hungarian Communist Party is already preparing to seize power in all areas of the state and society.
