Synopsis
Henriette, the impoverished noble girl - although she loves the talented young lawyer Vámhidy - is forced to marry the wealthy baron Hátszegi, and after the wedding, she follows him to his Transylvanian estate. At this time, the notorious bandit leader Fatia Negra reappears in the area and also blackmails Henriette. The woman tears off the black mask and is shocked to recognize her husband in Fatia. After the incident, Hátszegi spreads the rumor that his wife has gone mad - he keeps her under strict surveillance. However, her lover, Anica - out of jealousy - betrays her. Vámhidy is already on the trail of the secret, and the double-living baron ends his life by his own hand. A film adaptation of Mór Jókai's romantic adventure novel.
