Synopsis

The year is 1943. The war is raging between the Germans and the Allies in North Africa. A truck with a Czech crew, Lieutenant Navara and six soldiers, escapes from the Foreign Legion fortress. Their aim is to reach the Allies and fight against Nazism. The truck is destroyed by a German army plane, which is hit by enemy fire in its turn. One Czech soldier dies in the attack, the driver is badly wounded, and Navara has serious burns on his face. The group has very little water and must reach an oasis that is 60 km away.

Mood and atmosphere

Set against the backdrop of a war-torn landscape, this film evokes a profound sense of loneliness and desperation, wrapped in the suffocating heat of the desert. The struggle for survival amidst the arid beauty creates an atmosphere thick with tension and hope; the jagged contrast of sunbaked earth and the longing for an oasis mirrors the characters' emotional journeys. With a minimalist aesthetic and a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack, the visuals transport you to a timeless space where camaraderie and sacrifice intertwine. The film resonates with themes of resilience, identity, and the stark realities of conflict, making it a poignant reflection on human connection in the face of adversity, perfect for those seeking a thought-provoking experience that lingers long after the credits roll.
