Synopsis
The Kurds are a people whose existence is threatened and who are in revolt. Without a permanent home and oppressed in many countries, Yüksel Yavuz's documentary shows the fates of four women who fight against the unjust treatment of their ethnic minority. Human rights activist Eren Keskin shares her experiences as a lawyer from the 1990s, when Kurdish women in Turkey were repeatedly drawn into the cycle of war and sexual violence. Gülten Kışanak and Aysel Tuğluk are politicians who advocate for their own place in democracy, even if it means a hunger strike. Finally, Sakine Cansız was an activist, guerrilla fighter, and symbol of resistance - and was murdered shortly before filming began in January in Paris.
