Synopsis

Brother Kryl shows the tragic fates of the legend of two Czechoslovak revolutions – 1968 and 1989. The documentary brings closer many unknown events from the life of Karel Kryl and presents interesting archives that have not yet been known to the wider public. The lyrics of his songs are still relevant today – he was a visionary, predicted the future, but at the same time excellently reflected the present. An eternal rebel... What was so attractive about the "little singer with a big voice" that more than twenty years after his death people still sing his songs and read his poetry? What is the place of the artist in the tragic history of the homeland? Can an individual influence the course of history? What impact do traumatic childhood experiences have on the psyche of the creator? Was Kryl a victim of the history of his nation? He was loved by the masses, but he died abandoned and bitter – because he never made compromises. These and other questions were decided to be asked by the film's author Krystyna Krauze.
