Synopsis

14-year-old Joe is the only child of Jeanette and Jerry — a housewife and a golf pro — in a small town in 1960s Montana. Nearby, an uncontrolled forest fire rages close to the Canadian border, and when Jerry loses his job (and his sense of purpose) he decides to join the cause of fighting the fire, leaving his wife and son to fend for themselves.

Mood and atmosphere

Experience the haunting beauty of a 1960s small-town Montana, where the warmth of family love collides with the chilling reality of isolation and longing. This film captures the essence of childhood nostalgia as it navigates through themes of identity and the fragile bonds of family, set against a backdrop of fiery chaos and natural beauty. The visuals evoke a sense of melancholy and hope, with warm colors contrasting the destructive forces of nature. Feel the slow, contemplative pacing that mirrors the emotional turmoil of adolescence, alongside a beautiful soundtrack that resonates with dreams and unspoken desires. Perfect for those seeking a reflective, atmospheric journey into the heart of familial struggles and the bittersweet nature of growing up.
