Synopsis

It is an unwelcome homecoming for Siva, a Singaporean-Indian ex-convict, haunted by a tragedy in his past. Released after eight years behind bars and dejected by his mother’s coldness, he leaves home in search of his ex-wife and daughter. His old friend denies any knowledge of their whereabouts and instead leads him back into crime. Finding him sheltering in ‘void decks’ (the open public access corridors found beneath government-built residential housing in Singapore), the police force him to meet with a social worker; a woman also dealing with her own fears.

Mood and atmosphere

Immerse yourself in a hauntingly atmospheric journey through the complexities of identity and redemption, where the echoes of the past linger like shadows in the humid air. Set against the backdrop of Singapore's stark yet vibrant urban landscape, this film explores themes of loneliness and familial estrangement, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia for connections lost. The subtle interplay of warm colors and dimly lit void decks creates an intimate space for reflection, as the protagonist grapples with his past amidst fleeting moments of hope and despair. Perfect for those seeking a contemplative experience, this film invites viewers to ponder the intricacies of human relationships and the weight of one's choices, all underscored by a beautifully melancholic soundtrack that resonates long after the credits roll.
