Synopsis

Christel, the daughter of the imperial forester, arrests a young hunter in the woods who cannot identify himself and only lets him go after he pays a fine. Soon after, Christel learns that her secret lover Földessy, a hot-blooded Hungarian officer, was involved in a rebellion against the emperor. Christel gathers her courage and wants to personally ask the emperor for a pardon. When she finally stands before Emperor Franz Joseph after overcoming some obstacles, she cannot believe her eyes: the hunter she arrested in the woods is standing before her. But before she can embrace her lover, she must clear a few more difficulties.
