Synopsis
Our compilation, created with the support of the Budapest Unification Memorial Committee and the Hungarian Film Institute, differs from previous Budapest films in that it features exclusively archival footage. Clips from newsreels, advertisements, and short films. However, the main focus is not on historical and political events related to the capital. Rather, we aim to capture and reveal the 'soul of the city.' How the residents of the capital lived in the sixties and seventies. What their eating and dressing habits were, where they went to have fun. This is urban history on a secondary level, the history of everyday life in Budapest. Our selection, consisting of five standalone episodes (The Pest Street; The Pest Apartment; The Pest Bistro; The Pest Fashion; The Pest Car), is of course subjective, and cannot be otherwise, but we did not primarily intend to create a 'personal urban symphony,' but rather a montage sequence that faithfully reflects the spirit of the time.
