Synopsis

Paolo Marra killed his wife for no reason. Consumed by guilt, he decides to turn himself in: he wants to pay the price, serve his sentence, and restore dignity to the woman he killed—and to himself. Amid distracted police officers, zealous lawyers, fortune-tellers, and complicated bureaucratic red tape, no one takes him seriously. The man finds himself the victim of a Kafkaesque paradox: no matter how much he wants it, he cannot get himself arrested. He is the perfect scapegoat for a grotesque society that ignores those who seek redemption.

Mood and atmosphere

Immerse yourself in a hauntingly beautiful exploration of guilt and redemption, as the atmosphere oscillates between surreal bureaucracy and the stark loneliness of a man yearning for atonement. This film evokes a deep sense of melancholy, inviting you to reflect on the complexities of identity and the human condition. With a visual style that blends stark realism with dreamlike sequences, it captures the weight of regret against a backdrop of muted colors and shadowy urban landscapes. Perfect for a cozy evening of introspection, it resonates with themes of despair, hope, and the quest for meaning in a world that often overlooks the struggling. A thought-provoking journey, it lingers in your mind long after the credits roll, echoing with the whispers of solitude and the desire for justice in an indifferent society.
