Synopsis

A man goes to see his former schoolmate working at a boiler house and persuades him to burn in the furnace the corpse of his communal flat neighbor whom he has just murdered after a quarrel. An orphaned girl gets a job in the archives of the maternity home to find out the identity of her mother who abandoned her years earlier. She finds her, befriends her and takes the first opportunity to throw her into the sea. An old intellectual tries to explain to the neighbor’s five-year-old daughter “all the abomination of her lumpen existence”. The girl feeling hurt for her mother decides to poison the old man with arsenic.

Mood and atmosphere

Dive into a haunting exploration of human nature, where emotions collide in a stark urban landscape. Experience the weight of loneliness and the shadows of past choices that linger in the air. This film evokes a sense of melancholy through its raw, gripping storytelling, set against a backdrop of dimly lit alleys and flickering neon signs. The atmosphere is thick with tension, yet moments of quiet reflection emerge, inviting introspection. Themes of identity and the struggle for connection resonate deeply, while the minimalist aesthetic and haunting soundtrack amplify the film's emotional depth. Perfect for those seeking a thought-provoking journey through despair, hope, and the complexities of existence.
